Welcome to the Carter’s Crew: Spotlight. In this section we'll spotlight a cast member and get to know a little more about them!
CS: So how are you doing today ?
SH: I’m doing fantastic.
CS: The audience has read a little about your character Kyle in the Crew: character run down section but tell us something about your character that we may not know.
SH: Well, Kyle is an interesting character, there's more to him than meets the eye. Even though he might seem like a bad guy a great deal of the time, deep down inside he doesn't want to be. He wants to be friends with people, he wants to be able to trust others but in his life its been all about survival. He didn’t receive the love and attention when he was younger (and you will find out why in the series) and his biggest fear is rejection. Because of being rejected Kyle will do whatever it takes to avoid that. However, there is one person he feels he can trust and that's Trent. They've travelled the same rough road together and for Kyle, no one can understand him like he can.
CS: What are a few similarities or differences between you and your character?
SH: Similarities: when I was in middle school I had to move from Miami to a new city. I was a very over weight kid and for me it was hard to make friends; like Kyle I didn’t want to be rejected. So I came up with someone who I thought they would like - but it wasn’t me. I was never myself. The only time I felt I could be the real me was when I was at home or with my best friend. Things turned around for me though when I accepted Christ into my life. I realized I didn’t need to act like someone I'm not, because I have true love and acceptance in Christ.
A difference is Kyle hasn’t realized that he can find acceptance in Christ. He also get's into fights and I could never hurt anyone.
CS: Why do you think others will connect with the character of Kyle?
SH: Like I said, he's definitely an interesting character and there are a lot of people going through the same thing he is. They're searching for something: love, acceptance but just don't know where to find it. Hopefully, through the series they will see that they don't have to be anything but themselves.
CS: Things are really starting to grow with Carter’s Crew, with our webpage and we're moving towards production. How do you feel about all of that?
SH: It’s so exciting, I know the other cast have said that too - but it's so true! I'm getting the chance to meet new people and also do what I love to do at the same time. We, the cast, also get to share Christ' love and that's awesome too!
CS: How did you enjoy auditions? What were they like for you?
SH: Oh it was different then I expected, they were really fun! We weren't goofing off or anything but we felt relaxed. You could tell the director wanted you there and wanted you to do well. So, when I auditioned I totally let go, was able to be myself and here I am!
CS: Speaking of production, working in something like this means early hours and long days. Does that bother you at all?
SH: Not at all! I'm going to do something that I have wanted to do for years. So if it's 3am – 11pm so be it. This is what I love to do!

CS: How has a relationship with the Lord helped your life?
SH: My life before Christ wasn't right. I felt alone so much of the time. I was hanging with the wrong crowd and like I said earlier, doing things to please other people. My life turned around and seemed so much brighter when he came into my life. I'm not perfect but God is there to keep me on track every step of the way. For someone who is looking to fill the hole in their heart, and they feel lonely, and they've tried the drugs, drinking and more, Christ is there to help you and uplift your life. He can turn your life around - I'm living proof.
